Bowlers' winter walk Print E-mail

On Wednesday 21st October 25 of us met at Wick Lane Car Park for a walk to Hengistbury Head.  In spite of the rainy forecast we dressed accordingly and left the car park at 10.30a.m.  The weather was very kind to us and we crossed the fields at Wick to Hengistbury where we met up with 4 more members who preferred the shorter walk.  Some of us walked over the top of the Head where it was breezy but the views were lovely and well worth the effort.  The others' walked along the lower road and we met up at "The Hut".  We then did the walk in reverse and most of us once again met up at the Riverside for a well earned meal.

Winter Walk

We all enjoyed the day and look forward to our next walk on Dec: 2nd. at Arne.  It is really nice catching up with everyone after the close of the outdoor bowling and hope more of the 58 people who showed interest will be able to join us on our next walk.

The weather for our walk to Arne was fairly damp with heavy showers and could have been miserable but it takes
more than the weather to stop our members from enjoying themselves.  31 of us  started and although we did'nt do the long walk as anticipated we still had a lovely walk to the view point and back and saw several different birds and deer.

We all made our way back to St Peters Finger Pub and had a lovely warming meal which was served efficiently and quickly in spite of our different meals.  Another friendly "get together" and we look forward to our next walk which Irene has said she will arrange probably towards the end of January.
